TOUR THROUGH THE KAROO
The name KAROO derives from the Hottentot
word GAROB meaning, dry, unfruitful and uninhabited. That is how the migrating
Hottentot tribes described the Karoo plains centuries ago. The Karoo consist
of the Little Karoo, rich, narrow, irrigated valleys shut in by wild mountains,
to the northern, sensational, desolate expanse of the Great Karoo, formerly
a swampland. With ever changing colours of rock and sky, many secrets
e.g. more species of flora than Europe, the Karoo reveals the strangest
