DAY 1: Lunch and dinner included

Depart Cape Town at 08H30, travel on the N1 north going through the Huguenot Tunnel (4km) and over part of the Du Toits Kloof Pass. First short stop outside the town of Worcester. Within 40 km you will have your first taste of the Karoo. At historic Matjiesfontein we stop for tee and scones, a London bus ride, visit two museums or relax in the lounge until lunch is served at 13h00.

We depart from Matjiesfontein at 14h00 towards Laingsburg and the Seweweeks Poort (Pass) where we will have cold drinks and snacks in the majestic folds of the Klein (small) Swartberg mountains. We pass through beautiful geological formations and the earth’s power is demonstrated in the folds of rock next to the road. On Route 62 we turn towards Calitzdorp for a wine/port tasting., then we move on to De Zeekoe guest farm outside Oudtshoorn, a tranquil haven and ideal for spectacular sunsets and bird watching. (A total of 441km is driven on the first day.)
