BACKPACKER TOUR THROUGH THE KAROO

DAY 1: Dinner included

Depart Cape Town at 08H30, and travel on the N1 north going through the Huguenot Tunnel (4km) and over part of the Du Toitskloof Pass. Within the next 40 km you will have your first taste of the Karoo. At the historical Matjiesfontein you can laze around, visit 2 museums or go on a London bus ride. The restaurant serves snacks as well as meals for lunch.

After lunch we depart from Matjiesfontein towards Laingsburg and the Seweweeks Poort (Pass). The Poort is renowned for its beautiful geological formations and the earths power is demonstrated in the folds of rock next to the road. On route 62 we turn towards Calitzdorp for a wine/port tasting. Then we move on to our guest house/back packers in Oudtshoorn where we also have dinner. ( total distance for the day: 441km the first)
