DAY 3: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

We make an early start in summer to beat the heat of the day, visiting a rock art site before breakfast back at De Bergkant. After breakfast, we visit a fossil site. Dr Judy McGuire, who has studied anthropology, palaeontology and archaeology, will be our guide at both sites. She is also knowledgeable on the plants and history of the area.

From here we depart to our guest house at Abrahamskraal farm north of Prince Albert where we stay overnight. Abrahamskraal is in the middle of the Great Karoo with uninterrupted views for hundreds of kms from the 360° ‘stoep’ (verandah). After lunch you can relax, sleep, read a book, swim, walk as far as you like, watch birds or help the farmer tend his sheep. The clear blue skies, incredible sunsets, starry nights, silence and space are what give the Karoo its particular charm. In the evening evening we sit andchat around an open fire taking everything in. (Total distance 110 km.)
